14K White Gold Curb Link Chain

14K gold contains 14 parts gold out of 24, approximately 58.3% by weight, which is what the karat figure records for this chain. Where 10K white gold contains more alloy metal to achieve its hardness, 14K achieves the balance that the professional fine jewelry market has settled on: enough gold for a richer-looking base metal beneath the rhodium, with enough alloy for practical everyday durability.

The Gold Content Difference and Why It Matters

When a rhodium-plated white gold chain's surface plating wears through — at connection points, at the clasp, at high-friction areas — the base metal color becomes visible. 14K white gold's base alloy has a warmer, more golden undertone than 10K's cooler grey-white. For buyers who want consistent appearance through the replating cycle, 14K's warmer base reads as more distinctly gold rather than silver-grey when the rhodium thins. More importantly for buyers choosing for the long term: 14K contains significantly more gold per gram than 10K, making it the appropriate choice for a chain purchased as a gift, a keepsake, or a piece meant to be kept for years.

Selecting a 14K White Gold Curb Link Chain

14K white gold curb link chains are available from 2mm to 6mm at lengths of 16 to 24 inches. At 2mm to 2.5mm the flat oval link geometry makes this the cleanest pendant chain in the catalog — the flat surface positions pendants squarely without rotation or twist. The 3mm to 4mm range is the most requested for fine jewelry everyday wear by both men and women. At 5mm to 6mm the chain makes a clear white gold statement that pairs naturally with diamond pendants and white gemstone settings. Standard lengths of 18 to 20 inches position the chain near the collarbone, where the flat link faces reflect most effectively.

At 2mm to 2.5mm, the flat link geometry positions pendants cleanly without rotation — making this a strong pendant chain in the catalog for diamond and white gemstone settings that require a cool-toned, flat-surface chain. At 3mm to 4mm for everyday fine jewelry wear. At 5mm to 6mm as a clear white gold statement piece.
